PROPERTY ENTREPRENEURS COMPLETE PHYSICAL CHALLENGES AND RAISE OVER £130,000!

80 Property Entrepreneurs through Get Up and Give Back (GUGB), the charity arm of PPN UK, have just successfully completed a 12 week challenge in a Hike Against Hunger to combat UK Food Poverty.

Their efforts included the Snowdon Summit, Yorkshire 3 Peaks, National 3 Peaks and a fire walk to raise over £130,000 for two charities.

GUGB will be splitting the funds raised between two exceptional food charities:

On a national scale, Magic Breakfast provide 200,000 breakfasts a day to school kids who would otherwise start the day hungry.

Local to Stoke On Trent, the Tri Services Veterans Support Centre provide emergency food packages and services to ex armed forces who have fallen on tougher times and are often too proud to ask for help, even for food. Due to development plans, TSVCS were at risk of losing their building and distribution hub.

GUGB who work very closely with Property Entrepreneur has three key objectives:

  1. Promote and maintain the mental and physical well-being of entrepreneurs
  2. Raise awareness of an issue that really shouldn’t exist
  3. Raise money for charitable causes addressing those issues

Every year, GUGB and Property Entrepreneur partner with a charitable cause with the aim of raising substantial funds which will facilitate the delivery of a high impact, tangible result to one of the many social challenges we face in today’s society, both in the UK and worldwide.

This year, GUGB and Property Entrepreneur wanted to raise awareness of the incredible statistics of Food Poverty in the UK.
There are over 2,400 Food Banks in the UK.
Shockingly, that’s two for each McDonalds.

The Managing Director of Property Entrepreneur, Daniel Hill, made the following statement about how he came to decide that UK Food Poverty should be the charitable cause to support this year:

“I heard some astonishing facts, that for every McDonald’s in the UK there are two food banks, that there are 200,000 children in the UK in 2023 going to school without having had breakfast and our veterans, who served this country and maintained the freedom we enjoy, are without the support or income needed to look after their families and so I knew we had to do something.

Our Team at GUGB researched extensively for the best way to do it and shortlisted a number of options, but we couldn’t choose a single charity so decided to support a national charity, Magic Breakfast, and a local charity, the Tri Services Veterans Support Centre.

I had the privilege of meeting Alice Chamberlain from Magic Breakfast and Tracy Robinson and Geoff Harriman from TSVSC personally at the Grand Finale Event and when we raised the cheques the true extent of the impact this will have and how significant this money is to these charities really came home.

Thank you to all of you who supported, sponsored, and smashed it out the park to provide life changing support for hundreds of thousands around the UK.

Well done, congratulations and thank you.”

Geoff Harriman, Chairman of TSVSC, had this to say about the achievements of the Property Entrepreneurs:

“The question was asked about what this donation means for the TSVSC.

We will be forever grateful for the day that Dan Norman from GUGB came to visit us. We never imagined in our wildest dreams that we would be presented with a cheque amounting to £63,500.00!

We have now secured the building (the County Council had put the building we use up for sale and they have now accepted our offer to purchase it) giving our veterans the safe place they need to be, but our dreams and aspirations do not end there.

The money GUGB team raised, will enable us to have a purpose-built kitchen, where meals can be cooked for veterans and their families on a regular basis, we will also be able to engage with a (veteran) chef who can come along and help to teach those veterans who need it, how to cook a meal, help them with their diet and nutritional needs and how to make a meal from the foodbank, which we can now fully stock.

We would like to thank everyone involved in helping to make this happen. There really aren’t enough words to express our appreciation, we are also aware how very hard you all worked tohelp us.

Thank you.”

Alice Chamberlain, Director of Fundraising & Development (Interim) at Magic Breakfast also had this to add:

“We are very grateful to everyone involved in Get Up Give Back for their amazing fundraising efforts and for raising over £60,000 for Magic Breakfast. Magic Breakfast exists because, sadly, every day millions of children and young people wake up too hungry to learn. When children have rumbling tummies they can’t concentrate on their lessons or reach their potential.

Thanks to everyone at Get Up Give Back enough funds have been raised to provide over 200,000 free, nutritious breakfasts to help unlock children’s learning. We hope everyone who was involved is incredibly proud of every peak climbed, auction prize donated and every other challenge they’ve taken part in because it all made a huge difference to children and young people at risk of morning hunger.”

GUGB would not be possible without the world class committee that headed it up, the ongoing support of all of our Property Entrepreneurs and both our private, local, national and Corporate Sponsors.

A huge congratulations and heartfelt thanks goes out to everybody who has taken on one or more of the challenges, who have raised funds and those who have supported and donated in any capacity.  A specific thanks goes to our Corporate Sponsors, who’ve partnered their organisation with ours in a bid to tackle this growing problem.

With all this support the project will now go on to positively impact and improve the lives of 1,000s of school kids and veterans providing the fundamentals of food.
